The project is located on a one-acre sloping site offering expansive views of the surrounding mountains and river. An existing house previously occupied the site and was carefully demolished. As part of a sustainable approach, roof tiles from the original structure were salvaged and reused in the new construction. Any additional requirement was fulfilled using roof tiles sourced from nearby demolished buildings, reducing material waste and reliance on new resources.

No additional site leveling or alteration of the natural landform was undertaken. The design responds directly to the existing contours, with the building positioned on the naturally occurring flat portions of the plot. Maximum use of locally available materials further reinforces the project's commitment to sustainability and contextual sensitivity.

The building is planned in an L-shaped configuration to create a generous front yard at the entry while opening up uninterrupted views toward the mountains and river. This form allows the living, dining, and verandah spaces to fully engage with the landscape, enhancing the indoor-outdoor connection.

During an early site visit, the clients were observed spending extended time in the sit-out area, expressing their fondness for outdoor living. Responding to this lifestyle insight, a mountain-facing verandah was strategically placed to provide a comfortable space for enjoying the views throughout the day.

The master bedroom is located on the first floor to ensure maximum privacy for the client couple while offering panoramic views of the mountains and surrounding landscape. A large door with an integrated window functions as a picture frame, visually capturing the scenery and transforming the landscape into an ever-changing backdrop for the private space.

The project is a sensitive response to site, climate, and client lifestyle—where minimal intervention, reuse of materials, and spatial planning come together to create a sustainable and contextually rooted home.
